Broken challenge

Fraser/Kowalski
PG for deathfic! Not one of the boys though.
Hopefully, I'm not too late. No one's closed the challenge yet. If I am sorry! Just 221 words I fired off so unbeta'd.

Fraser is like a storm, Ray thinks. Like in the summer when you’ve had a heat spell and it’s about to break. You can feel it in the air, the change in pressure. After two years as partners, and another three as, well partners, Ray’s gotten good at reading Fraser’s barometer. Now, him when he’s upset, he just blows. Rages for a few minutes and then he’s good. Fraser though, he lets it pile up and up until he just cracks like that first bolt of lightening. He can feel the tension simmering in the car as he drives up the hill behind their cabin. Dief had a tumor and wouldn’t last much longer. So they were taking him up to put him to sleep. Ray had raged the previous evening while Fraser had pointed out all the logical reasons why it should be done this way. Finally Ray had asked why they couldn’t take him to the vet. Fraser simply said, “He’s my wolf.” Ray broke apart then and Fraser had held him as he cried.
And now Ray is calm. They’ll do it, bury him and head back to the cabin. And then, after they get home, the storm can break. And it’ll be Ray’s turn let Fraser cry. His turn to let Fraser break apart in his arms.

Date: 2007-09-04 06:42 am (UTC)Geez, I think you just punched me.
And if they've not gone to the vet, Fraser's going to... You know, that seems right, horrible, but right. :'(

Date: 2007-09-04 08:02 pm (UTC)But I like this;
Fraser though, he lets it pile up and up until he just cracks like that first bolt of lightening.
There's a low mountain range butted up right behind our town, and it collects those big, white thunderheads, and sometimes they pile *over* the mountains, and then BAM! we get a big, noisy show. So I'm seeing that in my head here, and it really works for Fraser!
