Welcome to the DS Match Challenge SIGN UPS!

Read this first!

This is a TEAM challenge. You are signing up to be on either Team Angst or Team Romance. (You CANNOT sign up for both!) Each Team will have 18 members including Team Captains. There are 18 prompts and we'll assign each prompt to one person from each team.

Fics will be posted anonymously by Sage (Team Angst) or China (Team Romance), along with a poll. Readers will vote on how well the story meets the genre (angst or romance) and how much they enjoyed the story. At the end of the challenge, we will tally up all the story totals and name one team the winner! (Individual story totals are top secret and will never be revealed.)

Fic requirements:
• 1000 words minimum (no max limit)
• must fit the genre (angst or romance)
• must use the assigned dialogue prompt.
• must include any FKV combo (FK, FV, KV, FKV)

You will have 4 weeks between prompt assignment and fic deadline.

Teams have 17 open spots and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Read to sign up? Okay!!

Update: Team Romance filled after 11 minutes! Team Angst is full as of 12:43pm!!

Anyone not on a team may sign up to be an alternate/backup fic writer by commenting to the appropriate team post. This is like pinch hitting, only with less pressure. :D Thanks to everyone for signing up!

One question -- are people still going to be allowed to comment on fics, as well as polling?

Question.

Are you going to average the votes per story? Because some pairings automatically get read less than others and that will do things to the bell curve it could only dream about.

One suggestion - I'm not sure how you could implement it, or how it would work with your other plans - would be to have each writer list pairings they'd be willing to write, and then match prompts with specified pairings so that each prompt set is written with the same pairing on both teams.

In other words, you might have:

"Don't touch that": F/V
"We've got to keep going:" F/K

and so on. That would at least ensure that stories going head-to-head would have the same audience.

Not only that, some people avoid angst--I exchanged comments with some other readers of [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_match, and they hadn't read any of the angst stories, because they didn't want to risk reading something that didn't have a happy ending.

Right then, it's just now sinking in that for the first time ever I have actually signed up to write fic. Not sure whether to freak out and start hyperventilating, or just sit here being quietly proud of myself.

I think I'll make a cup of tea.

Tea solves most problems. Tea and a nice biscuit solves all problems.

On the upside, you chose Team Angst. So, what you're feeling right now? Research!

If the tea isn't working, I've got vodka. I imagine I'll be hitting it when I realize what I've done. :) Woops. :( Angst!

Oh, laugh it up. Pages of writing for work on an average weekend: 80-120. Morality clauses in my contract: 1.

I managed to resist writing in fandom for seven years. A mere TWO WEEKS of being visible in due South and I've joined a writing challenge. You people are like Heaven's Gate.

I'm replying to my own comment to change this to *editing*, as it should be, because if I wrote 80 to 120 pages in a weekend, I would be Joyce Carol Oates and it was bothering me. I am so sad.

I'm delighted that you did.

What [livejournal.com profile] malnpudl said - because I am *still* reeling from Out From Under. Seriously.

'Kay, lessee what we've got... (aside from typo I needed to fix, so take two...)

Tea - check. Lots of tea. Will perish without tea, so, yeah.

Biscuits - lovely person *looks upward* left some for me, but the bunnies ate 'em. But wait, I have instead...

Chocolate! - *guard this jealously from greedy bunnies*

Vodka - no, no vodka, though I do have five out of a six-pack of Guinness in the 'fridge, so good to go on the alcoholic beverages.

Evil plan to break heart *looks further upward* into little bitty pieces - not yet, but I'm sure team mates will assist.

Dude. Rockin'.

Mwahahahaaaaaaaa!!! What? I'm practicing here.
