Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio

Wordcount: 1005
Summary: Ray isn't convinced glowing is a superpower.

Professional Glow Worms

Ray was striding through the hallways of the station trying to ignore the sensible voice of Fraser behind him. Of course he could never outpace the Mountie for long, he'd tried that before.

“Are you still upset, Ray?” Fraser asked.

“Yeah, I'm still upset,” Ray said, trying to keep his voice down.

“What happened to us isn't necessarily a bad thing,” Fraser pointed out, sounding pleased.

Ray decided that if they were going to have to talk about what happened they needed somewhere somewhere more private. He dragged Fraser to the nearest closet and shut the door.

“How is glowing during sex not a bad thing?” Ray asked, continuing the conversation.

“It might come in handy,” Fraser replied.

“How? So we can broadcast to the neighbourhood we're sleeping together?”

“I'm sure our neighbours...”

Ray interrupted. “Your neighbours.”

“They were our neighbours last night.”

“You're changing the subject, “ Ray accused. “The people in your building, did you think they didn't notice?”

“None of them said anything.”

“What were they going to say? We saw you and your boyfriend glowing last night?”

“Well...” For once Fraser had no real explanation.

“I can't believe we glowed,” Ray said. He hoped they'd dreamed it.

“I'm sure there's a perfectly rational explanation.”

“Were we covered in radioactive goo?” Ray asked.

“No.”

“Have we met any strange women lately?”

“No.”

“Have we met any fairies or leprechauns?”

“No.

“So how did this happen?” Ray asked, surely Fraser couldn't have a rational explanation for that.

Fraser looked thoughtful. “Perhaps it's body chemistry.”

Ray didn't want to think about that. “Body chemistry? Ewwww, Benny.”

Fraser smiled a little. “I was merely suggesting it's a physical manifestation of our emotional chemistry.”

“This hasn't to you before last night?” Nothing would surprise Ray when it came to Fraser.

“No, Ray. It was quite a shock to open my eyes and find that you were...glowing.”

“You were glowing too,” Ray pointed out.

“Yes,” Fraser paused. “You looked ethereal when you were glowing.”

“Are you saying I was drunk?”

“No, Ray you looked...supernatural.”

Ray sighed. “I was glowing I wasn't going to look normal.”

“How did I look?”

“When you were glowing?”

Fraser nodded eagerly.

“You looked like...” Ray threw his hands up. “I don't know...like an angel.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.” It was true Fraser had looked...beautiful, handsome, lovely. He had remined Ray of an angel. Clichéd as it was.

“Thank you, Ray.”

“Okay, so we glow. What we going to do about it?”

“We could see a doctor,” Fraser suggested.

Ray held his hands up. “No way.”

“There;s nothing wrong with talking about intimate problems with a doctor.”

“Unless he thinks you're crazy,” Ray pointed out.

“Ah. We could probably use it.”

“Use what?”

“Our ability to glow,” Fraser explained. “If were we were in a dark room or passageway it could be useful.”

“You want us to have sex when we're trapped somewhere?”

“It doesn't have to be sex, Ray. Perhaps is we were sufficiently stimulated...”

“I'm not doing that either,” Ray said, firmly.

“I meant if were emotionally engaged with each other. For example now you are slightly glowing.”

“I am not,” Ray protested. Even though it was getting lighter in the closet.

“Look at yourself, Ray.”

Ray glanced down at himself, holding up his hands for inspection. Yes, he was glowing. “Oh God.”

Fraser was looking at himself. “I appear to be glowing slightly.”

“Why are we glowing?”

“We're emotionally involved in this discussion and it seems to be bringing out our new ability,” Fraser reasoned.

“It's not an ability it's annoying,” Ray replied. “I can't go out there glowing and you can;t either.”

“If we calm down we will probably stop glowing.”

“I am calm.”

“You're glowing brighter, Ray,” Fraser pointed out.

“If somebody opens that door...” Ray stopped. Fraser was humming.

“Mmmmmm.”

“You're lowering your heart rate again?” Ray asked, trying to show he was calm.

Fraser stopped humming. “It seemed a good way to calm down.”

“Well, I;m not calm,” Ray admitted.

“That would appear to be why it's not working.”

Just was Ray was contemplating lowering his heart rate, the door opened. He could hear voices of cops running down the corridor. The man, who still had one hand in a handcuff, who had opened the door stared in shock at the two glowing men inside. Ray felt his worry and embarrassment grow which had an unfortunate effect in their glowing. It got brighter. So bright in fact that the man shielded his eyes and stumbled back.

This gave the chasing cops enough time to catch up with him and grab him. Fortunately the glowing had subsided. The crowd that was gathering, however, were still looking at ray and Fraser who were still in very close quarters in the closet.

“What? A guy can't have a private moment with his Mountie?” Ray asked.

That seemed to dissuade the crowd who drew back, murmuring as the man, who was wanted for a liquor store robbery, was taken back into custody. As he was led away Ray breathed a sigh of relief. Welsh appear at the door.

“Good work, Vecchio.”

“But sir...” Ray had no idea how to explain.

“Thank you kindly Lieutenant,” Fraser said, speaking up.

Welsh took one more look at the two of them in the closet and shook his head. He walked back down the corridor.

Fraser was smiling. “See, Ray, I told you it would come in handy.”

Ray gave Fraser a look as he closed the door again.

“Do we still need to discuss it?” Fraser asked.

Ray shook his head and pulled Fraser in for a kiss. He closed his eyes but he was pretty sure they were starting to glow again. A professional glow-worm didn't seem too bad when you got certain benefits, and a glowing Fraser was pretty nice to look at. In the small closet they glowed on and Ray made a note to get a lock on the door. One that didn't glow.

The title sucked me in... How did you ever think of this as a "superpower"? Although, I suppose, until they can harness it, it's more like useless side effect!

I could definitely hear them in the banter.
