The Telephone Challenge

Write a scene featuring or in some significant way turning upon a telephone. Think conversations, dials and buttons, phone sex, cell phones, phone booths, crank calls, phone sex, wrong numbers, phone threats, heavy breathing, phone sex, the game of telephone, the implications of long-distance, 702 (the area code of Vegas), Fraser on top of a pole, phone sex, and did I mention the phone sex? (Terri really wanted some phone sex.) (To read about.) (I think.)

It's Saturday by my watch. Stories due before midnight next Saturday. Ring-ring! "It's for you...."

Oh dear. I read that Ring-ring and immediately envisioned some horrible crossover with The Matrix. (Picture Agent Smith sneering, Mr. Kowalski...I've been waiting for you. And Fraser and Morpheus engaging in endless discussions regarding predestination, alternate realities and the meaning of free will.) Yikes...have to go scrub my brain now.

Actually, hilariously, I had just said to Beth H. in chat, "So, how soon before we get the Matrix crossover." SOMEBODY's got to. Beth painted a whole scenario about Ray and Fraser arguing over whether to take the blue pill or the red pill, and then Fraser insisting that Dief take a pill too, and Ray saying that Fraser was the pill around here, believe you me and so forth.

Me, I'd basically like to see them both encased in vinyl, but I'm notoriously shallow like that. *g*

See, the ring-ring takes me directly to the end of the movie Local Hero. Suddenly I'm all misty, and I've got the soundtrack in my head, and I'm picturing that red phone booth as the closing credits roll...
