“Ray. Ray. RAY.”

“What?”

“Are you ever going to put this behind you?”

“I’m thinking no.”

“Don’t be ridiculous. Are you saying you’re going to hold onto this, this minor embarrassment forever?”

“Minor?! My mother walked in on us having sex. How is that minor?”

“To be accurate, we weren’t actually having sex, Ray.”

“Fine. You want to be specific, I can be specific. She walked in on us having foreplay. Naked foreplay. Is that better? And why aren’t you embarrassed by all this?”

“Well of course it’s not something I wished your mother to see. But it isn’t as if she was unaware of our relationship. Surely she realized such activities take place.”

“Knowing and seeing are two totally different things, Fraser. Yeah, I figure she knows we have sex, but that doesn’t mean I wanted her to be an eyewitness.”

“I would certainly hope not.”

“So it really doesn’t bother you.”

“I wouldn’t go that far. I’m just having trouble understanding why you can’t get past it. It isn’t as if this just happened. And your mother has been quite mature about the whole thing.”

“What are you saying – I’m being immature about this?”

“…I’m just saying I’d like you to let it go. After all, it has been several days. You’ve talked with your mother since then – did she treat you any differently?”

“Nah, but then she wouldn’t. Not her style. Heh – I’m betting she calls before she comes over again, though.”

“That’s probably wise in any case.”

“I still can’t believe this isn’t bugging you more.”

“I suppose, were it my parent that had walked in, I might feel differently.”

“Yeah, I can see that. So when we go to the folks’ for dinner next week you’ll be cool about this.”

“Oh dear. Well, it might be a bit awkward. But I’m sure I’ll manage, as long as you behave.”

“Trust me. This I will not be bringing up in front of my parents. Ever. Hey, c’mere.”

“Mmmm. I see you’ve decided to follow my advice.”

“Ahhh…mmyeah, well, don’t let it be said I – god, do that again – that I’m too stubborn to see when I’m wrong.”

“No, I’d never – yes, please – say that.”

“Especially not when – yeah, right there – I’m presented with the facts.”

“I’m – aahhh – glad you’ve decided – oh my GOD Ray – to let this go.”

“Yeah, well let’s just say I found something better to hold onto.”
