There are ways of making men into ghosts. Ray Vecchio knows this all too well. He pulled the trigger too many times in the desert, and no amount of amnesty from the Feds will change it, no matter how many times he goes to confession, nothing will relieve his guilt.

Two years as a dead man and Ray cannot feel alive, no matter how hard he tries. When he looks in the mirror he can’t find himself. When he rifles through old photographs he is staring at a dead man. Ray walks the streets of his old neighborhood, but he can’t feel the ground beneath his feet.

There are ways of making men into ghosts. Ray Vecchio knows this all too well. He thinks about leaving a note, but dead men seldom speak. He puts the gun to his head and pulls the trigger.

Don't worry, anon. There will likely be a sequel in which Ray survives the suicide attempt (if there can be a sequel to HCL, this can also happen), and eventually gets some hot three-way man-on-man action with Kowalski and Fraser.
