After a number of weeks of having ideas for flashfics and not having the time to write, I was *finally* able to sit down and write (well, okay, I wrote the first draft at the store today while hiding behind a customer service desk).

This is one of two fics for the challenge that I worked on, this just happens to be the first one I finished (I'm looking to finish the second one soon. I hope.)

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] linda3m and [livejournal.com profile] ardent_muses for the quick beta, story help and, most of all, for the title approval/help.

Cell, No!

No.

Yes.

No.

Yes.

No, Ray, I do not need a cellular phone.

Yes, Fraser, you do.

Ray, there is no reason for me to have such a frivolous amenity. When I'm not at the Consulate, which has a perfectly working phone, I'm with you, and you have a brand new cell phone. There's really no need for me to have one.

Yes, there really is.

Name one.

Last week I told Ice Queen I loved her when she snatched the phone from you.

*sound of throat clearing* That was an accident; she mistakenly thought you were the call from the Ambassador from Tunisia with whom she had a dinner date later that night.

She hung up on me after making some kind of choking Doberman sound.

True. You know, the crimson color the Inspector turned cannot be good for her health. But back to the subject at hand, while that was an unfortunate incident, an indignant Inspector Thatcher is not enough of a reason for us to purchase a cell phone for me.

Ben, it took Turnbull over a week to look me in the eye and quit turning the color of a tomato when he saw me after he picked up the line and overheard us talking about that weekend up in the North Woods with the chocolate sauce and the handcuffs. I got no problem at all with people knowing about us, but I'd really rather they not know the lurid details...

*sound of louder cough* Ray! You do have a point, but I still hold to my decision, a cell phone is not something I need to --

*sound of "O Canada!" playing in midi form from the cell in Ray's hand*

Does it come in red?

end

Does it come in red?

I love how you managed to pack so many good images into such a short piece. I love the last two lines. Funny!
