Admin Post: New Challenge: Geocities Challenge

Inspired by the deliriously retro flavor to the official Captain Marvel website, lets use the old Geocities as the prompts for the next two weeks!

The fonts! The colors! The repeating backgrounds! The blinking . . . things.

If you need more inspiration, here's a Tumblr that has captured the front page of every Geocities account from 1996 to whenever it went dark. Have fun browsing that!

I haven't run across mine yet. Who else had a Geocities page back in the day? I'm pretty sure Frannie would have had something, not to mention Constable Turnbull probably had one for recipes or cleaning tips.

Use it to get into that 1990s vibe or better yet, let one of the pages you run across inspire your fic.

As always, this challenge will run for two weeks, ending at midnight, Chicago time (CST, UTC-6) March 10.

With scant time between my return home from the Escapade slashcon and now about to leave for RevelCon I may not get a fic done for this challenge deadline, but I still want to get my comment in that I think this is a really great, creative challenge prompt.

Well, thank you! I'm glad you liked. I've been so busy that I'd planned to write a fic and even had a few lines down but then never got any further.

I guess I'll save that one for amnesty, eh?

I'm at a point where I have plotbunnies and WIP's already plus enticing prompts from this comm and the dSC6D snippets comm...but trouble making deadlines even though "deadlines are my friend"...so thank goodness for amnesties.
