Prompt: Prompt: "Frannie Vecchio is an addictions counselor working with food-related addictions in a group therapy setting. Some of the members of the group are Renfield Turnbull (addicted to watching cooking shows, especially "Chopped Candada" with Dean McDermott), Ray Kowalski (addicted to Benton Fraser a mix of coffee and chocolate candy), Diefenbaker (addicted to donuts), Harding Welsh (addicted to deli sandwiches), and Benton Fraser (not addicted to anything food-related, but, "Fight Club style," addicted to attending support groups). Someone in the support group turns out to be a Cylon, but who?"

Frannie had always wanted to help people. Years before, she had thought about being a police officer like her brother, but decided against it; the uniform included a hat and hats always looked weird on her strangely shaped head.
Instead she started a Food Addicts Anonymous (F.A.A.) program.
She stepped into the room they used for their weekly meetings.
She flicked on the lights and the room was bathed in light and the hum of the fluorescent lights filled the small space. The room had one window that was covered by vertical blinds because it faced the bare brick wall of the building across the street.
She had a veggie platter balanced in her arms. Behind her, Rennie was carrying a jug of juice.
She put the platter down on a folding table and Rennie sat the jug next to it. In most other meetings the head of the group usually brought doughnuts and coffee, but that would not work for this meeting; Dief was addicted to doughnuts and Ray Kowalski was addicted to putting Smarties in his coffee. She always wondered why Ray would want to put something so hard and chalky in his coffee, but then he explained that he used Canadian Smarties which were candy covered chocolates that looked like squished M & Ms.
They were setting up chairs when there was a knock at the door.
She opened the door and looked down to find a small turtle wearing a top hat standing in front of her.
‘Hello, are you here for the Food Addicts meeting?’
The turtle nodded.
She picked up the turtle and sat it on a chair. She was not a fan of reptiles, their beady eyes always creeped her out, but this turtle was cute. It must have been the turtle sized top hat on its head.
‘Hi there. I’m Renfield Turnbull.’
The turtle made a noise.
‘Ah, well it’s nice to meet you, Killer.’
Frannie looked at Rennie. ‘You speak turtle?’
‘Oh yes,’ Rennie said with a smile.
‘What did it say?’
‘He said his name is Killer Kowalski and he is addicted to pineapple.’
‘Ah, well we’re happy to have you here,’ Frannie said to Killer.
Rennie and Killer chatted until the other members came to the meeting.
Ray Kowalski walked in and his eyes went wide when he saw Killer.
‘What’s my turtle doing here?’ Ray asked Frannie.
‘He is here for the meeting.’
‘Oh, well I guess that’s okay. What’s with the top hat?’
The meeting went well after that. The members of the meeting each took turns introducing themselves and talking about their food related problems.
Benton stood up. ‘My name is Benton and I first came to Chicago on the trail of the killer of my father and became addicted to drinking milk out of the carton.
After the meeting, Killer ate the broccoli in the veggie platter which Frannie appreciated, no one ever ate the broccoli and sometimes she was convinced that there was more broccoli at the end of the meeting then there was at the beginning.
As it turned out, Killer was not only a pineapple addict, but also a cylon but that was a story for another time.

Date: 2021-04-12 12:29 am (UTC)And I <3 this part so very much I'm giving it its own paragraph. Using my "one of them is a Cylon" prompt to make Killer the Turtle out to be the Cylon is cracky genius, and I hope it REALLY IS "a story for another time".
