All of the Chicago radio 10 codes can be found here. It was really interesting. I just wish I could have used some of the stranger ones!

This was great! Very authentic, document wise. It gives a great, distanced perspective on "a day in the life"--and you have to hope not every day's like this, though they sure are on the show, huh?

This was a very cool idea, very well done - I love the details, especially the half-heard conversations.

Also - those 10 codes... 10-82? When do they *use* that?

Welcome to the party; what a cool introductory entry!

I'm especially fond of this:

3:20PM DISPATCH: 10-64: "Detectives Huey and Dewey need assistance over at Simpson Pharmaceuticals, 79th and Essex. Something about the Mountie’s tongue better than forensics..."

3:20PM "See what happens when you lick things! 10-4."

This was really cool. I would not have had a clue how to make this work, but you did. I loved hearing Fraser's distant little Ray! in the background. *G*

Also, thanks for telling us where you found all those codes. It's going to be a good resource!

Nice job! Looking forward to more from you.

Thanks. I was just going to bang out this little piece, but then I got hung up on all the details.

I don't think that's a bad thing, as long as it doesn't keep you from writing. :) It's hard to write good fanfic if you don't feel confident about your details.

I know what you mean about the restaurant. I have a couple I need to visit myself, if I'm ever there. :)

What a great first post. I was laughing aloud at the oatmeal cookies and poor Welshs ulcer.

Hey, that was great!

Loved the oatmeal cookies too. And the code for 'Dog Chase'. Dief would be so insulted if he knew, heh.

I think you did such a good job here that you could even leave the explanation of those codes out of the story entirely and it would still be quite clear from context.

Welcome, Brandi! No need to ask us to be gentle, though, not with a story that's this good. All the notations everyone else has made, just add here:

Somehow in the flurry of posting my own story I missed yours - and it's terrific!. I love it when an author does research to this extent, and the fact that the restaurant exists, too, really impresses me. Welsome to the wild and wacky -- you've already made yourself at home, so keep jumping in.

research yay!

Well that's a hell of a debut! :-) Loved this. Super details, and I too loved "hearing" the little interjections and responses along the way. The whole piece just left me with a big smile. Thanks!
