Author: Tara Keezer
Rating: PG-13 for language
Pairing: F/K
Notes: 100 words that may well get me kicked off the comm for my interpretation of the challenge. Ah well. It’s been fun knowing you.
~*~*~
Fraser was a quarter-mile away from home when he heard the screams. He urged the dogs on and hoped he would get there before the worst could happen. The cabin was in sight when he heard the first dull thud, and by the time he stumbled off the sled, leaving the dogs to fend for themselves for the moment, the crashes and yelling were near to a fever pitch.
“Ray!”
“I hate this fucking thing!”
Ray picked up the box and —
“No!” Fraser cried out.
Ray snarled and threw their computer at the fireplace. “Goddamn Vista. I’m calling Apple tomorrow.”

Date: 2007-03-06 11:19 pm (UTC)Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.
And of course the favorite thing my ol' and not-so-faithful XP loves to present me with:
All shortcuts have disappeared. Screen. Mind. Both blank.

[hugs MacBook even tighter]
I'll admit that my Mac gets confused on occasion, but man. It's nothing compared to what I see with Windows machines, especially if they're on a network.

Date: 2007-03-07 01:31 am (UTC)I've only once in my life used a Mac (girlfriend in Paris some years back) and they're still fairly rare in these parts so I can't really compare, but I can honestly say that my laptop's Windows has just as much of a volatile 'personality' as the Win 95's and 98's of years past. When it crashes, bay-bee, it's gone. I reinstall about every year and half to two years, and start cursing the new version about the same day. And lets not get into the networking. *shudders*
If your Mac works for you, don't change it. At all. EVER. *nodnod*

Date: 2007-03-07 11:38 pm (UTC)I'm still impressed by the way that the last Windows "automatic upgrade" made it so all of my Excel spreadsheets don't work.
Still, since it took Mac 3 months to fix iTunes so that it would let me UPDATE MY FRICKIN MUSIC, I'm spreading the hate around evenly these days.
