Date: 2003-06-21 12:01 am (UTC)Really excellent, Shay! The things we *know* Fraser learned from Ray's file - and all the things we *didn't* know he'd learned: extremely well done.
(and I *adore* Ray reading Fraser's file. Skimming over everything that's irrelevant in his world to get to what's important. Fantastic.)
-Beth, taking a small break from reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. *g*

How's the book?

Date: 2003-06-21 12:46 am (UTC)Loved the "Steve" reference, and the religion thing -- very funny. I can see you're putting together some interesting backstory for RayK, and I hope we get to see it in story form. *G* I was especially curious about his experiences with the drug dealers. Poor baby.

Bwahahaha! Love it.
And love Fraser's approval of the rescue of the 7 year old. He sounds just like his dad there.
The only quarrel I have with this excellent story is that I'm not convinced Fraser would say 'Darn it'. Unless, y'know, a house fell on top of him, or something like that. (grins)

"Sure, Lieutenant. Just like you asked."
"Excellent. That should keep them occupied for a while."
"Yes, sir. But I thought we were all supposed to pretend that Vecchio --"
"Shh, yes, Ms. Besbriss, but Fraser's no fool. He might as well know. It's not like he's going to, oh, take tooth impressions or measure the new guy's nose."
"Heh, of course not, Lieu! What a funny idea!"

Date: 2003-06-21 05:05 pm (UTC)As for the inclusion of words like "faggot," I suspect those adding to the official record of any cop, whether he was actively homosexual or not, would carefully avoid putting that in print. I actually did imagine that Ray got into the fight with the other cops because of a reputation he'd gotten with Franklin.
Yea, verily, the backstory in my head is full and rich indeed. Now if only I could keep it all straight -- er, so to speak.
Thanks so much.
