Date: 2008-08-31 10:45 pm (UTC)I admit I don't recall seeing British spelling in the text. On the other, other hand (we're talking Whimsy here, I can have as many other hands as I want :), I don't know whether Stars writes K/V.
Hm. Verrrry cagey of you, Team Whimsy! :)

Date: 2008-08-31 11:43 pm (UTC)In general, I tend to be very bad at these guessing games. The one thing I did guess (and I was so proud of myself--hee) was that
Anyway, about this one, mine is really just a wild guess based on only a few bits of information. I haven't really read a lot of Cat's work yet, because the only genre I make sure I read is F/K, and that's the only one she doesn't really write. I haven't even had time to read all the F/K that gets posted, even--I regularly find I've missed recent work even by my favorite authors. :( I blame art school (and, you know, ADD *g*). The amount of K/V I've read is really minuscule by comparison.
Anyway, I checked out which authors I thought would have the wide-ranging genre interests, the gumption to leave Fraser almost totally out of the story, and, especially, the stamina to write a long, involved piece, and in so doing I came upon Cat's huge (and beautifully written) oeuvre, which I hadn't really even been aware of before. People have been writing up a storm around here while I've been hunkered down in the art cave!
Anyway, yeah, if Stars has an interest in antique furniture, it could well be she. There is that gory battlefield scene, and she did kill a version of Vecchio. (Stars, it's the Zombie thing! I know you can deal with the horror scenes.) So, do you think Cat could kill Vecchio? Yeah, Aka, you definitely have a point. Could well be Stars. --Well, if she's decided to branch out into K/V, anyway. I don't see anything in that pairing by her. Hm.
But if so..."higgledy-piggledy"? SRSLY? *teases*
I'm sure we have our Whimsical friends in stitches laughing at us by now. :)

Date: 2008-08-31 11:59 pm (UTC)As for the speculation re the depth of my interest in antique furniture, well - that's rather personal, don't you think?
*snicker*
Although I admit I am guilty for killing Fraser's mother and father, but those were canon deaths! And, okay, Ray. Once! As for zombies, you can't have zombies without collateral damage, and that time it was Canadians. Umm. And many citizens of Chicago, fine, whatever.
All in all, when the reveal comes? Some people might just be surprised by what I can write, when I put my mind to it.

Date: 2008-09-01 12:34 am (UTC)I could so too use higgledy-piggledy, given the appropriate context! :D
Oh, I've no doubt of that. Hee!
I'm sure
(And PLZ...Let's not be making light about the killing of any and all Rays, eh? *sobs*)

Date: 2008-09-01 12:42 am (UTC)Umm. I promise that in the next fic I post, no Rays will be harmed in the making thereof? Or Fraser. Cross my heart. &hearts
[I would post it now, except what with the guessing and all, it might give things away somewhere along the line. GRAR. *is not very patient*]

Date: 2008-09-01 01:24 am (UTC)I'm hoping to finish a bunch of things in this, my last week before art school starts up again, and I won't post most of it now, either. But that's just because we've got such a huge haul of fic to read already. It's only Day 4, and most of the stories are very long! We have an embarrassment of riches!
There's one thing I might post, even so, because it's a very late birthday fic, but anything else will keep.
Umm. I promise that in the next fic I post, no Rays will be harmed in the making thereof? Or Fraser. Cross my heart. ♥
That comforts me greatly. Thank you. :)

Date: 2008-09-20 09:38 am (UTC)You know what? I actually realized that after I looked up "steampunk" and found out what it was. I just never got back here to post again about it. But I realized also that I was totally right the first time about the authorship of the story, and, really, your fic archive provided the biggest clue. (Well, Stars' accidentally giving herself away helped, too.) It's quite an amazing story, and I only wish I could have given you more eloquent feedback at the time.
As it is, I just typed what came to mind higgledy-piggledy.
Huh. I'm not feeling it, you know. The higgledy-piggledy, I mean. Maybe it grows on you? :) :)

Just insert higgledy-piggledy into everyday conversation and soon it will become second-nature. *nodnodnod*
